Smartphones in Turkey will no longer be able to arrive with Google services

Google will no longer be present in Turkey, meaning that Android smartphones will not be able to reach the country with Google apps and services. Put more simply, Turkey will now suffer the same as Huawei, for different reasons, but with the same result.

It turns out that since September 2018, Google has been changing contracts to try to stay present in Turkey, a country in which the company has been accused of abuse of power. The result, however, was the rejection of all the company's attempts by the Turkish government, resulting in the ban on its presence in the country.

This whole dispute began when a Russian rival of Google, Yandex, formally accused it of abuse of power. The starting point for this was that on Android, you couldn't choose which search tool to use, always being linked to Google. At the end of last year, Google was given a period of 6 months to adapt, along with a fine of 15 million euros. The company is still struggling to resolve the situation with the Turkish authorities, but immediately, new smartphones are expected to arrive in the country without any Google service or app.

Devices that are already on sale and on the market are not affected by the measure. Only new devices cannot be launched in the country with Google services, regardless of the manufacturer. In other words, smartphone manufacturers will have to differentiate Turkish versions of the devices in order to enter the country's market. Yandex, meanwhile, came out in profit with an entire market without Google's competitiveness.

The possibility of the same happening in other European countries is low at the moment, but it exists, depending on the legislation in force in each country. Google has already been questioned in court for years for forming a kind of virtual and technological monopoly, giving little chance of competitiveness to other companies.
