Google Camera: Update brings new features to older Pixels

Smartphone enthusiasts are always wanting more. When a new smartphone comes out, they look for the most minute improvements to give them a reason to upgrade and switch smartphones.

Some manufacturers like Google and Motorola list certain system apps on the Google Play Store, making it faster and easier to update certain features, delivering what's new to older devices.

According to a tweet by Kevin Peralta (@KaKito_24), by downloading the Google Camera application from the Google Play Store, version 8.1 .008.341125824 will be installed on your smartphone.

And it looks like this will bring Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL owners the new Cinematic Pan feature present on the Google Pixel 5 for reduced-speed panning shots that look smoother in playback.

If you own a Google Pixel smartphone, chances are you already have the Google Camera app version 8.1 installed on your Pixel 2 or higher, as Google is also releasing the update on its own.

Other new features include zoom shortcuts and a reduction in background noise that is part of the "Audio Zoom" feature. The latter enhances the sound when you zoom in on an object and also reduces background noise when recording a video.

To check the version of the Google Camera app you have on your Google Pixel, go to Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps > Camera > Advanced and scroll to the bottom where the version number will appear.

If there is no version 8.1 or higher, please go to Google Play Store and search for Google Camera to update your camera app.

    GCam for the intimates!

Of course, we cannot fail to mention that with the most current version arriving for the other models of Google's Pixel line. Stable versions of the GCam will soon arrive with the new features for all smartphones that, at least, have a Snapdragon processor higher than the 665 (for a better experience).

Version 8.0 of Gcam has already been reported here, but there are some bugs that are being fixed almost daily. Definitely the life of those dedicated to modifying and adapting unique applications has never been as difficult as it is now with GCam on the market. After all, there are already users who, when they go to buy a smartphone, already search before if it accepts the modified Google Camera.
